About
Me.

Hi! I'm Marit van Ekelenburg and it turns out I like clicking bugs.

Since 2018 I have been immersing myself in the world of macro photography. I would like to take you on this wonderful journey; one full of wonder, fascination and curiosity.

From amateurish holiday snaps with the smartphone camera to the niche of extreme macro; there has hardly been a step in between for me. From moment one I have been addicted to closeups. The details of a forget-me-not, the eyes of a hoverfly, the jaws of a vibrating spider… I am fascinated, mesmerized. I want to share the miraculous world that I see through my lens every day.

Half way 2020 I decided I want to do more with macro photography. Things kinds of snowballed! I now write about bugs once a month for a Dutch newspaper. I grew my Instagram to over 800k followers, and Facebook to 250k.

I’ve been a jury member for various photo contest, had an exhibition of my work at a Palace Soestdijk and Vijversburg, currently have a big solo-exhibition ‘Design by Nature‘ at State Museum Het Muiderslot.

Gave various readings and workshops, been on podcasts (for example: Een Uur Cultuur and AART), did a project for a Dutch television show, sold shots to Affinity Photo, been published in various magazines  – with Asian Photography Magazine and Natuurfotografie Magazine choosing my photo as the cover, done projects with brands such as Canon, Irix and Godox – and much more.
