Since the end of 2017 I have been immersing myself in the world of macro photography. I would like to take you on this wonderful journey; one full of wonder, fascination and curiosity.
From amateurish holiday snaps with the smartphone camera to the niche of extreme macro; there has hardly been a step in between for me. From moment one I have been addicted to closeups. The details of a forget-me-not, the eyes of a hoverfly, the jaws of a vibrating spider… I am fascinated, mesmerized. I want to share the miraculous world that I see through my lens every day.
Half way 2020 I decided I want to do more with macro photography. Things kinds of snowballed! I now write about bugs once a month for a Dutch newspaper. You can check the articles over here. I’ve been a jury member for various photo contest, had an exposition of my work at Palace Soestdijk and Vijversburg am working on an expo in São Paulo, gave various readings and workshops, been on podcasts, wrote for Natuurfotografie Magazine, sold shots to Affinity Photo, been published in various magazines – with Asian Photography Magazine and Natuurfotografie Magazine choosing my photo as the cover – and much more. It’s save to say that this ‘hobby’ of mine has gotten a bit out of hand. And I love it!
Feel free to look around here on my website. I’m also active on Instagram (190K+ followers, yay!) where you can find me as MacroByMarit.
Do not hesitate to contact me with questions and/or comments. I do readings on all things macro (focus stacking, editing, finding bugs, getting close etc.) and I also give a variety of workshops. You can send me a DM on Instagram or use the contact form below. If you just wish to receive an update of what I’m up to or when the new workshop dates will be, you can sign up for my newsletter.
